Ca’lyah was established in 2019 by Nigel Majakri and brings together renowned international designers and craftspeople from underserved communities in a conscious interplay of cultures. Long-held craft traditions are intermingled with modern production methods to create original, finely crafted signature furniture and accessories collections with strong sustainability qualities.

We use natural and circular materials to produce finely crafted furniture with distinctive character and sustainable qualities. We work with traditional craft communities and artisans from underserved communities to advance skills and excellence, combining modern production methods with long-held traditions.

Our design philosophy combines Nordic sensibilities with a curiosity to explore international influences, bringing together people from various cultural backgrounds to embark on a journey of co-creation between renowned designers and skilled craftspeople.

The first edition by Ca’lyah named Tranquebar was designed by Boris Berlin (b. 1953) and launched in September 2020.
